Thu, 27 Jun DAY Take The Punt. Catch Metro to Spotswood (Williamston & Werribee lines). After a short walk to the Scienceworks Jetty, we will board the 9:10am Punt (last for the morning) to take us across to Westgate Landing, Fishermans Bend. Fare $3 (EFTPOS only, no cash or myki). Meander through Westgate Park and then explore Maritime & Beacon Coves and Port Melbourne. At the end of the walk, catch the 109 tram from Beacon Cove to Southern Cross and then along Collins St. Please don't book unless you are sure of being on the walk. E 13 km
Sat, 15 Jun DAY You Yangs. You Yangs circuit walk starts with a walk to Flinders Peak for sweeping views of Melbourne and Geelong. Circuit walk offers high views of the Stone Bunjil, created after the Commonwealth Games. Some short steep hills along the way. M 12 km
Thu, 13 Jun DAY Conglomerate Gully Flora Reserve and Dromkeen. Travel by V/Line to Riddells Creek (Bendigo line, myki usable). Walk to Conglomerate Gully Flora Reserve where the Western Grassland Plains meet the hills of the Macedon Ranges. The 85 hectare reserve has impressive conglomerate rock formations. After lunch, visit National Trust classified Dromkeen (circa 1889) which has a gallery and exhibition spaces. At the end of the walk, catch the 3:35pm train which arrives at Southern Cross at 4:24pm. Thu, 6 Jun CON Construct stone steps on Freemans Mill Track. Continue constructing stone steps on the steep section of the track. M 1 km
Thu, 6 Jun DAY Kororoit Creek Trail. Travel by Metro (Sunbury/Watergardens line) to Sunshine. Walk the Kororoit Creek Trail from Sunshine to Altona North and see the extensive work done to revegetate the Kororoit Creek corridor. View artist Geoffrey Ricardo's "Spirits of Time and Place" series of eight sculptures along the trail. At the end of the walk, board 903, 411 or 412 bus to Altona station. E 13 km
Wed, 5 Jun CON Freemans Mill Track - continue building stone steps. Continue building stone steps on the steep section of the track. E 1 km
Sun, 2 Jun DAY Around the 1000 steps. Meet at the 1000 steps lower carpark at 9.00am. Start walking at 9.15am. The walk is recommended for experienced walkers who are used to climbing hills. This walk will include numerous tracks with multiple ascends and descends which are very steep and at times on gravel tracks which can be slippery. We will descend on the track next to the 1000 steps called the Lyrebird track. Lunch will be at One Tree Hill. H 14 km
Sat, 1 Jun DAY St. Kilda Art Deco walk. An easy walk along St Kilda streets seeking out the lovely Art Deco houses and apartment buildings. The walk stops for morning tea in public gardens, lunch in a community garden, and to complete the day coffee in Fitzroy St. THis walk was originally devised and led by long term member Judith Hampton. It is walk # 2 in the BBC book Favourite Victorian Bush Walks. E 10 km
Fri, 24-28 May O/N Murray Sunset Remote. Into the heart of the Murray-Sunset NP, this remote walk is mostly off-track - good for practicing your navigation skills (map & compass and/or GPS). For a 'desert', there is a lot of vegetation and even more sand. This is tough country in summer but, hopefully, late May should be ideal. Drive up on Friday (early start) and walk 4km to the 1st camp. Car-camp on the last night & drive home on Tuesday. M 50 km
Thu, 23 May DAY Reservoir to Rosanna. Travel by Metro to Reservoir (Mernda line). Walk along the Darebin Creek Trail, through the grounds of La Trobe University (Bundoora campus), on the Macleod to Mont Park goods railway (1911 to 1964) alignment and on trails through Rosanna Parklands to Rosanna station (Hurstbridge line).
